What is Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing)?

PAT Testing is an essential part of a company’s health & safety policy to ensure that staff or members of the public aren’t harmed by any electrical equipment within a business premises.

Testing should be performed regularly to protect all employees and customers against any accidents and liability within the workplace related to portable electrical appliances.

PAT Testing should be carried out by a business in accordance with guidelines stated in the IEE Code of Practice. All of our engineers are qualified to the latest 18th edition wiring regulations.

Why Do I Need To PAT Test?

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 puts the duty of care upon both the employer and the employee to ensure the safety of all persons using the work premises. Failure to carry out regular testing may result in your insurance policy becoming invalid.

A regular preventative maintenance program also ensures that all reasonable steps have been taken to comply with current health & safety legislation.

All portable appliances will need testing such as IT equipment, kettles and microwaves. The inspection and testing should be carried out by a fully qualified PAT testing engineer.
